Action on Southern Africa (ACTSA)
Kathryn is Head of Campaigns at ACTSA, the successor organisation to the Anti-Apartheid Movement working for peace, democracy and development across the region. Kathryn has had a lead role in ACTSA's campaign against the Zimbabwean dictatorship. ACTSA successfully lobbied to uphold European Union sanctions against the Zimbabwean regime, spearheading a demonstration outside the French embassy in London, securing national media coverage. A key objective for ACTSA has been to keep Zimbabwe in the public eye and continue to develop initiatives that will maintain public support.

Richard Benjamin
Nil by Mouth
Richard is the sole employee of Nil By Mouth, a campaign challenging sectarianism in Scotland. Its aim is to eradicate sectarian language, hatred, discrimination and abuse. Richard's campaign and its supporters have generated significant positive change in Scotland: leading to a change in legislation on religious-aggravated crime; rolled out an education programme in schools and the developed initiatives to tackle bigoted behaviour in football.

Laura Cheeseman
International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA)
Laura is a campaigner with IANSA, a campaign network that has successfully lobbied for a UN treaty to control small arms flowing into conflict zones. IANSA aims to mobilise global civil society to raise awareness of the problem and work with their governments to build support for the Treaty. Their major activity will be to run a global People's Consultation on what the Treaty should include.

Alois Tawanda Mbawara
Free-Zim Youth
Alois is a twenty-five year old Zimbabwean, living in exile in the UK who became politically active in the civil society, labour and opposition movement in Zimbabwe at an early age. Alois co-founded Free-Zim Youth in April 2006 to raise awarenes of the situation in Zimbabwe and put pressure on the Southern African Development Community and the African Union to compel the Zimbabwean regime to uphold its democratic principles. They have organised a series of direct actions during visits to the UK by leading Southern African politicians, drawing widespread coverage to the region.
