Our mission, vision and strategy
Background
SMK was set up in memory of Dame Sheila McKechnie, who died in 2004, and was seen as one of the most eloquent and effective campaigners of her generation. Approved as a charity in 2005 to stimulate and support the next generation of campaigners, SMK helps individuals who tackle the root causes of injustice and unfairness and who aim to develop sustainable and innovative solutions for social, economic and environmental change. SMK is the only registered charity in the UK dedicated to connecting, informing and supporting campaigners. During our first four years we have proven that we can punch above our weight and deliver relevant and effective support that helps people to set their own agendas, take action, and make an impact.
Vision
A present and future where campaigners are better able to set the agenda and get results.
