Finalists

Harris Nyatzana

United Network of Detained Zimbabweans

Harris was a geography teacher in Harare before he was forced to flee Zimbabwe for the UK. Zimbabwe?s political and humanitarian crisis has led to a large increase in the number of Zimbabweans seeking political asylum in the UK. Currently, asylum seekers are not permitted to work in the UK, even though many are highly trained and keen to contribute to British society. Harris is campaigning for a change to this law and has gained cross party support for this issue.
